Kim Szczypinski & Deborah Gilbert, British History Society

The legendary British luxury liner RMS Queen Mary sailed on its maiden voyage in 1936.  Kim Szczypinski and Deborah Gilbert, Britsburgh History Society (BHS), will transport us back in time to learn more about that romantic time.  Kim will recount the ship’s history, legend and lore.

The Queen Mary’s passengers included royalty, prime ministers, presidents, film stars, and other wealthy individuals.  Deborah will display the elegant fashion of those famous travelers.  The BHS has a unique vintage clothing collection.  The Queen Mary, a beautiful art deco vessel, held the record for the fastest transatlantic crossing.  Consequently, during World War II, the ship was closed for commercial use and recruited for the movement of armed forces.  Its military service contributed to the defeat of Nazism.

As you can imagine, the rich history of the Queen Mary makes it the perfect residence for ghosts and goblins.  Those tales will be told as well.  All Aboard!
